wanted to try Elizabeth Zimmermans Pi Shawl? EZ herself says that a shawl is
perfect summer vacation knitting, providing maximum knitting pleasure for
minimum weight and space in your bag. Described in The Opinionated Knitter
or The Knitters Almanac, this is a circular shawl knitted from the
center out. Join us in June and July to create this fun and easy shawl with
lots of places to add your own choice of lace patterns. Weve already got our
yarns picked out!

Master Knitter
Support Group
1st Monday of the month, starting July 7th 6:30-9:30pm
This group is for anyone who is
enrolled in or even interested in
enrolling in the Master Knitter Program through TKGA. It's an
open house--come with your swatches, tips, research
ideas and all around excitement for taking your knitting to the next
level. No instructors and no fees, just a time to get together and give each
other much needed support!

Are you a knitter/crocheter that's
outgrown/uninterested in the Friday night bar scene but still looking for a
chance to socialize and to meet other fiber addicts? Come to Crazy Girl
Coralville for our new To Be Named Later Knit Night for
Twentythirtysomethings. (And help name the group!) Each Friday starting
June 6th, Ann will be at the store from 6-9pm, and no worries, she won't be
checking IDs.
Join the Crazy Girl Yarn Shops during World Wide Knit In Public Day, Saturday June 14. Bring your yard chair and sit in the courtyard outside the 12th street entrance. (We'll be sitting inside if there is rain!) We'll be celebrating all day with snacks and other fun activities!
Sock Club

Addicted to sock knitting? We are too! Come and show
off your work, admire your fellow knitters' yarns and patterns, try a few new
things, and bask in the feeling of being around folks who understand what the
point is of knitting your own socks instead of buying them down at the
Everything Mart.

Fair Isle
patterns are a beautiful way to add color to your knitting, and they are a lot
easier than they look! If you can carry one yarn in each hand, those patterns
just fly by. Bring the ribbing for a hat to class and learn to carry the yarn
in the hand you dont usually use then try the two-handed technique.

Cables are one of those magical knitting tricks that are a lot easier than
they look. Try your hand at front and back cables, reading a cable chart,
and even cabling without a cable needle!

Double-Knitting

Double-knitting is a little piece of magic trickery whereby you knit flat,
back-and-forth, and come out with a tube! Great for potholders (our class
project), baby blankets, scarves, reversible hats or at the graduate
level, for knitting two socks at a time, one inside the other! Color
patterns knitted this way automatically reverse themselves on the back
side of your work. Prerequisite: must be able to knit holding one yarn
in each hand.

Beaded Knitting

Add beads into your knitting with one prestringing method and one
add-as-you-go method. You can use the pattern and techniques to make a
beaded wristwarmer or a headband, depending on your choice of yarn and
beads.

Knitting on two circular needles is a fun way to knit items that are too
small to fit on one circular needle, like cuffs, socks, and baby things.

What do you do when you are tired of knitting garter stitch scarves? Learn
something new! In this popular class, students will knit a simple beret while
learning the purl stitch, ribbing, increasing and decreasing, knitting in the
round on both circular and double-pointed needles, picking up dropped
stitches, I-cord, and finishing. Youll finish with the skills you need to
pick out a pattern and get knitting!

Do you suffer from Second Sock Syndrome? Heres the cure: knit both
socks at once, on two circular needles! This technique is also perfect

beginner knitters! Youll learn to knit a sock from the cuff down, on two

There is nothing quite like the magic of knitting lace and watching that
wrinkled lump on your needles transform into a delicate web. This class is
for intermediate knitters who have never tried lace. You will learn to knit
lace from a chart, use markers and lifelines, and block the finished piece.

It may be a little warm to think about knitting a sweater now, but summer is
actually the perfect time for it you will have it all finished and ready
to wear when it does get cold again! Whether you have never knitted a
sweater before or have tried it and been less than satisfied with the
results, this class is for you. Learn to adjust a sweater pattern to fit
your own needs. Well be knitting a bottom-up raglan sweater and addressing
the following elements: measurements, ease, and size selection; gauge,
including a circular swatch; suggestions for alternate necklines; waist
shaping; and the addition of short-rows at the bust.

Cancellations must be received 24
hours in advance for a refund. A minimum of 3 students is required for most
classes to take place some classes may require a higher minimum, please see
individual class signup sheets for information. If the minimum for a class is
not reached, we will cancel or reschedule the class and a full refund will be
given.
Students can receive a 10% discount on the supplies required for a class. Bring your supply list with you when you shop in order to receive the discount, or shop during class.
