Judy
Judy taught herself to knit in 1966, when her oldest daughter was
two. She still has the pamphlet she used, as well as that sweater (knitted on
size 3.) In the summer of 2003 she heard about this yarn shop that was supposed
to be opening in Muscatine’s newly restored block of downtown. She came in and
purchased some Mission Falls yarn from Leslie before the store was even open,
possibly being the first Crazy Girl customer! In her non-knitting time, she
likes to sew, cook, garden (as much as possible in her tiny yard,) entertain and
spend time with the grandkids. She also enjoys really good restaurants, travel,
theater, and movies.

Gail
Gail always has a captive audience when
knitting—her four year old Rat Terrier Lizzie, her very old Siamese cat named
Andrew, and Grace, a pound kitty. Gail has been knitting off and on since 1969,
and her favorite things to knit are socks and sweaters. In her non-knitting time
she likes to garden (till it gets hot), ride bikes, go to movies and spend time
with her family and friends. |

Krista
-
"Muscatine Store
Manager"
One of Crazy Girl's original employees,
Muscatine Store Manger Krista has been knitting for over three years. She's
married with three growing kids who keep her busy, and three cats who keep
her even busier. In her non-knitting time, Krista is an avid walker, movie
buff, and loves to spend time doing DIY projects on her house. |

Marie
Marie has knitted off and on since she was about
8 years old. Her mother taught her along with the 4-H Club girls. Obsessed
might most accurately describe Marie and knitting. Fair Isle might be
Marie's favorite but socks seem to be a close second. Marie and her husband
Mark live in Wilton with their 4 cats. Surprisingly the cats seem
uninterested in the yarn - actually the same might be said for Mark, too!
When not knitting Marie helps at Latta Well & Pump and enjoys gardening.
Marie and Mark also collect American Art Pottery and other antiques. |

Renee
It may not be appropriate to call Renee Crazy Girl’s Bag Lady, but we can
say that she’s crazy about bags! Renee likes to spend time with her family, cook
and bake, and knit her bags while watching movies. Renee has three dogs and a
cat, and also loves to paint rooms in her house! |

Ann
-
"Coralville Store Manager"
Coralville Store Manager Ann cultivated her love
of fiber at the foot of her Grandma Lollie, who whipped out afghans at lighting
speed. Ann swears she learned to crochet in the womb, and took up knitting
fifteen years ago, driving forty miles--each way--for lessons. She lives in Iowa
City with her husband and two daughters, and spends her free time reading,
playing online poker and watching the Cubs.

Camille
She’s the youngest Crazy Girl, but Camille comes loaded with knitting
experience. She taught herself to knit from a book when she was just seven, and
we frequently find her knitting the most up-to-date fashionable items. Camille
is a freshman at the University of Iowa, speaks French and Spanish, and is also
a ballet dancer and violinist.

Dania
Dania is a jewelry and textile designer selling her work in galleries
and boutiques nation wide. She was featured on HGTV’s show “That’s Clever” in
the Spring of 2007. During her episode she demonstrated how to create a jeweled
closure felted purse. (See the purse at the Coralville Store!) She has also won
awards for her jewelry and knitted items in regional and state competitions. |

Lin
It took Lin 20 years to learn to knit, proving that a slow start is
no obstacle to eventual success! Crocheting was a whiz, though - go figure. Lin
always has a sock on the needles in her purse and knits a lot of warm and
colorful things for her 2 girls, but her very favorite thing to knit is lace -
she claims that, like listening to Bach, it pleases both sides of her brain at
once. Lin admits to a congenital incapacity for following instructions, which
she cleverly attempts to disguise as 'designing'. In addition to knitting, Lin
enjoys cooking Mexican food, belly dancing, baking bread, listening to and
making music, sewing, brewing, embroidery, and...well...pretty much anything
else she can get her hands on.

Nancy
Nancy was taught to knit and crochet by her grandmother. She has
crocheted most of adult life, but has recently come back to knitting. She
took up the challenge of teaching herself to knit socks, and ended up
knitting thirty pairs for her large extended family last Christmas. She
admits to being SOCK OBSESSED. She believes they are an amazing feat of
engineering (pun intended) and a perfect pallet for any knitting style. She
says they are a great project because they wear out…making a perfect excuse
to knit more. She has recently learned to spin, and discovered it’s harder
to hide fiber stash than sock yarn! |

Sue
It’s been over twenty years since Sue began knitting, in order to
create garments for her children. See Sue if you have questions about gauge—she
learned to knit from gauge, as opposed to patterns, and finds that the easiest
way to knit! Sue loves to travel, and in the summer if she’s not in the store
she’s pursuing her other passion…gardening! |
|
Nora
Nora learned how to knit when she was a teenager spending the
summer with friends in Northern Ireland. She used to be more
“product-focused” but now enjoys the process as much as the product, and
finds knitting to be a meditative and relaxing activity. When she is not
knitting she may be found puttering in her garden, playing with her
Tonkinese cats, or traveling with her husband. Nora lives in Iowa City and
has two grown children, Nick and Megan.

Liz
Liz taught herself to crochet in December 2006, and Ann taught her how to knit
in April 2007. She finds sock knitting to be the most rewarding knitting
adventure so far. She also enjoys working with beads--the tiny seed bead kind.
Besides knitting and beading, she also enjoys spending time with her husband and
kitty cats, and watching all critters outside her window. |
